On 6 February, students from ECIU University members met in Barcelona to work together on the final project of the ECIU University micro-module “Intercultural Competences: Guiding Practical Insights through Citizen Science.
The objective of the course was to help students develop their intercultural competences, a high necessary skill in the professional life. In addition to a project on Citizen Science, the course also included meetings with experts and reflections on the topic of interest with the help of a coach.
For the past few months until visiting Barcelona, students from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), University of Stavanger, Kaunas University of Technology and University of Twente had taken online classes. The meeting on site, enabled students to bring their ideas together, while also discovering Barcelona and its local culture in order to prepare the final project for their micro-module.
Students also participated in workshops and visited OpenLabs at UAB. At the end of the week, participants presented their ideas for the final project, which consisted in creating a journal on the intercultural knowledge they had acquired during their stay in Barcelona. There was also a final debate among students, coaches and experts on the experience during the micro-module.
